Feature film animation adaptation of the masterpiece SF manga that enjoys a worldwide fan base. The completely new story was created with the full cooperation of the manga author Nihei Tsutomu, who served as creative consultant. Directed by Seshita Hiroyuki of Knights of Sidonia.
A gigantic layered city endlessly expands at random because of a past infection. Village girl Zuru (voice: Amamiya Sora) faces the prospect of annihilation and goes on a journey to find food, but she is attacked by troops from the Safeguard defense system. Then she encounters Killy (voice: Sakurai Takahiro), who is searching for the Net Terminal Gene.
