[ Story ]
Documentary about the venerable Pelican bakery that was founded 74 years ago. Directed by Uchida Shuntaro of Portrait.
Tokyo is crowded with bakeries that sell bread of all varieties imaginable. Located in Tokyo's old-style downtown district of Asakusa, Pelican consistently has a line when it opens each morning at eight. The camera captures the site where the bread is made at Pelican, an industry outlier with just two products, rolls and loaves, and sheds light on the essence of producing things and "making bread that sells."
