[ Story ]

Historical drama helmed by Naruse Mikio that depicts the samurai spirit, a mysterious man, and a woman who risks her life to fulfill an obligation.
It is Kyoto in the spring. The city is in a tizzy over whether Kishu retainer Kazusa Daihachiro (Ichikawa Sensho) will become Japan's top archer by hitting the target more than 8,000 times. Five years ago, Daihachiro's father committed suicide after losing to Bishu retainer Hoshino Kanzaemon (Kono Akitake). In desperation, Komatsuda Inn proprietress Okinu (Tanaka Kinuyo) has had Daihachiro learn archery to avenge the past. Then, an unknown samurai stays at the inn.
