Murakami Haruki's short story is adapted to film by director Hamaguchi Ryusuke, who won the Silver Bear at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival for Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy. It also competed at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, where it became the first Japanese film to win four awards including Best Screenplay.
Two years after stage actor and theatre director Kafuku (Nishijima Hidetoshi) lost his wife, he heads to Hiroshima for a theatre festival in his cherished car. He meets his untalkative driver Misaki (Miura Toko), and becomes aware of something he had ignored while spending time with her.
