Drama inspired by folklorist Yanagida Kunio's famous book ‘Tales of Tono'. Directed and scripted by Fukunaga Takeshi, whose Ainu Moshir was highly acclaimed abroad.
Tohoku in the late 18th century. Rin (Yamada Anna) lives in a village suffering from food shortages caused by cold weather damage. Mount Hayachimine, where the goddess of thieves is said to reside, is her spiritual support, but she leaves the village in order protect her father, Ihei (Nagase Masatoshi), who committed theft. Rin crosses the mountain god's shrine and goes deep into the mountain, where she encounters a mountain man (Moriyama Mirai) who is feared as a legendary being.
